Students Show Creative Flair for Kitchens

Boston Spa High School students create their ‘kitchen of the future’

As part of Moores kitchens and bathrooms involvement in various initiatives at schools across Yorkshire, Boston Spa High School students have been involved in a design completion to encourage students to create their ‘kitchen of the future’.

Sustainability was a key factor in the brief submitted to the groups of year 9 students and it was fantastic to see so many had taken this on board and really incorporated it into their design ideas.

All students presented their ideas (and I must we were all very impressed with all the presentations we saw) in a ‘dragons den’ style to Moores Neil McDonald (Design), Neil Martin (Public Sector Sales Director) and Justine Turner (Marketing). Following presentations we quizzed the teams about why they had chosen particular colours or layouts and what made them go down the design route they had.

The design ideas we saw were incredible…ranging from the futuristic self cleaning kitchen (who wouldn’t want that), solar powered kettles and earthy vibes to the on trend curved island units, live in dining with comfy egg chairs and clean white colours. We were so impressed with the research all the students had done and how well they incorporated the sustainability factor into their designs.

Neil McDonald, Head of Design at Moores Kitchens and Bathrooms said, “Choosing a winner was a tough decision and after discussion we decided there had to be a first and a second! It’s been great to see so much creative flair in what the students have come up with and we are now hoping to incorporate aspects of the winning designs into our new kitchen studio.”

Make sure you keep an eye on the website news for the latest updates on what’s happening with the winning designs!
