New for this season, the VELUX Group is introducing an exciting collaboration with internationally acclaimed designer, Karim Rashid who has created an exclusive range of VELUX blackout blinds, aimed at the style-conscious homeowner.

In a partnership where fashion meets function, the unique limited edition collection includes eight bespoke designs.  Signalling a new approach by VELUX to work with design influencers, Karim Rashid’s collection focuses on contrasting light and dark, and aligns with the VELUX commitment to creating daylight solutions for the home.

Ideal for updating or renovating a room in the roof, the VELUX Blinds Collection by Karim Rashid adopts the role of small pieces of art, infusing metallic greens, pinks, lilacs, and black digital patterns all inspired by flow, movement and nature.   The designs – ‘graphic flower’, ‘flexous’, ‘nature’ and ‘sensual’ – all enhance the external elements to bring the outdoors in, helping to create better living environments, in a unique and inspiring way.  Easy to install, the blinds are designed to coordinate with your room, season or mood in a collection where fashion becomes fun.

A renowned designer based in New York, Karim Rashid’s style – referred to as ‘sensual minimalism’ – combines natural soft lines with convenient solutions, which makes Karim an ideal fit for VELUX.  Karim’s international acclaim has led him to be awarded over 300 design awards.

Designed for VELUX roof windows, the range offers fashionable flair to any room in the roof.  The blackout blinds also boast a number of health advantages including controlling light, and acting as natural sound and heat insulators to offer a better sleep.  Perfect for afternoon naps and lighter summer nights, blackout blinds are ideal for installing in bedrooms and the tight-fitting blinds prevent any light from entering the room as and when you desire.

Kirsten Korhonen, Brand Manager from VELUX said: “It was a natural fit to work with Karim, who has the same enthusiasm for creating daylight solutions and healthier living environments as we do.  We have worked closely with Karim to ensure the final eight designs deliver superior quality and add an inspirational touch to every home.  Teaming up with one of the design world’s most prolific designers demonstrates a new design approach by the VELUX Group and we’re excited about a bright future with both Karim and other designers.”

Karim Rashid said: “Daylight is essential for our wellbeing and VELUX creates exceptional quality roof windows and blinds to manage daylight in the home.  To create an intimate and recreational space, light control is an absolute must – for sleeping, working or privacy.  In teaming up with VELUX on the blackout blind collection, I have been inspired to get to work with light versus darkness. Blackout blinds are the key to maintaining a satisfying sleep cycle and ideal for bedrooms and other spaces around the home.”

Products from the VELUX Blinds Collection by Karim Rashid are available to buy online at www.velux.co.uk and at VELUX approved blinds retailers.
