Housebuilder Vistry South East raises over £20k for local charity helping disabled young people in Sussex

A charity golf day held by Vistry South East has raised more than £20,000 for a Sussex-based charity that supports children with complex neuro-disabilities.

The housebuilder, whose head office is in Caterham, has organised an annual fundraiser for the Chailey Heritage Foundation for the past four years.

The charity, which is based in North Chailey, near Lewes, provides a wide range of educational and care services to young people with cerebral palsy and other serious conditions.

This year’s fundraiser took place at Goodwood in Chichester, where Vistry employees, suppliers and subcontractors were split into teams for golf and shooting, followed by dinner and an auction later in the evening. The event raised a total of £20,756.51 for the charity.

Will Folkes, Head of Fundraising at the Chailey Heritage Foundation, said: “There was a great turn out for the event, and we’re so grateful to Vistry for their generous donation.

“Here at the Chailey Heritage Foundation, we rely on support and donations from companies like Vistry, to continue the vital work that we do to help disabled young people be as independent as they can.

“The money raised at the event will go towards the Chailey Innovation Centre, a place for our engineers to carry out their research in adapting technology to be accessible to disabled young people.

“All of our young people use wheelchairs and are non-verbal, and adapted technology will allow them to communicate, which will have a massive impact on their lives.”

Prizes for the auction were donated by the suppliers and subcontractors at Vistry, and included wine, hotel stays and vouchers.

Hosted by regional operations director Steve Appleby, it was the largest contributor to the funds raised at the event.

Alex Jordan, regional managing director at Vistry South East, said: “I’m massively impressed by the amount of money raised at the Chailey Heritage Foundation fundraising event and so pleased that we have been able to help such a deserving cause once again this year.

“Having worked with the charity for several years now, we are familiar with the vital work that they do for disabled young people and their families. It’s great to know that the money raised will be used to develop technology to help improve their quality of life.”
