DECC have been attending a series of events this summer

To help businesses, installers and consumers to find out about the recently launched Domestic Renewable Heat Incentive scheme, DECC have been attending a series of events this summer.

The Domestic RHI scheme is for home-owners and private and social landlords who want to install renewable heating systems in their homes in England, Wales and Scotland.

It provides long term financial support for property owners who install renewable heating systems and is was launched recently. It marks a milestone in energy efficiency as it is the first time every building in the country is able to take advantage of financial incentives to install renewable heat technologies.

Property owners will receive quarterly payments for seven years to help cover the cost of installing a renewable heating system. The scheme applies to certain types of hot water and heating systems including air source heat pumps, biomass boilers, ground source heat pumps and solar thermal systems.

At the events, attendees will also be able to find out how the domestic RHI and the Green Deal will work together to ensure that all participants benefit from having a smarter, warmer home.

DECC have already exhibited at dozens of events on the ‘RHI Roadshow’ and the final few events include :

June 26 – 27: Eco Technology Show, The Brighton Centre, Sussex

June 28 – 29: Southern Homebuilding & Renovating Show, Sandown Park, Surrey

July 8: RHI Roadshow CO.DURHAM, The Workplace, Newton Aycliffe

July 9: RHI Roadshow CUMBRIA, Cumbria Rural Enterprise Centre, Penrith

New tariffs and technologies have also been announced for the non-domestic RHI, so DECC will also cover the opportunities on offer to commercial and public buildings at these events.

The non-domestic RHI scheme is aimed at industry, commercial, public sector and not-for-profit organisations which would receive regular financial payments as an incentive for installing renewable heat systems into their buildings. ‘District heating’ schemes where one boiler serves multiple homes can also apply to receive financial payments. Scheme applicants will receive quarterly payments for 20 years.
