There was a time when bathrooms were designed almost entirely around necessity. Today, they are among the most considered rooms in the home.
Homeowners are investing more in bathroom design than ever before, seeking spaces that combine relaxation, practicality and technology. As a result, manufacturers are responding with products that solve real challenges around installation, maintenance and everyday usability.
This shift was reflected in the shortlist for the Bathroom Solution of the Year Award, which recognised products helping to redefine the role of the modern bathroom.
Bathroom Solution of the Year award finalists
Rather than focusing on a single trend, this year’s finalists demonstrated the many different directions innovation is taking across the sector.
For installers, efficiency remains a major priority. MyLife Bathrooms‘ Concealed Easy-Plumb Valve Box was developed with exactly that in mind. By simplifying shower valve installation and improving future maintenance access, the system addresses practical challenges that can save both time and disruption throughout a product’s lifecycle.
Material innovation was represented by Grant Westfield‘s Naturepanel Shiplap. Their waterproof wall panelling solution captures the appearance of natural timber while eliminating many of the maintenance concerns associated with traditional materials. The result is a finish that combines visual warmth with everyday practicality.
Personalisation continues to influence interior design decisions, and RAK Ceramics‘ RAK Resort Colour Collection Sanitaryware reflects this growing demand. The collection provides greater freedom to create distinctive bathroom environments that reflect individual tastes and design preferences.
Completing the shortlist was hib.‘s Spirit Mirror, a product that illustrates how smart technology is becoming seamlessly integrated into everyday bathroom products. Featuring LED illumination, integrated demisting technology and touch-free controls, the mirror has been designed to enhance the user experience without adding complexity.
What united all four finalists was an understanding that today’s bathroom products need to do more than a single function. Whether improving installation, increasing convenience or delivering smarter user experiences, each solution reflects changing expectations among homeowners and developers alike.
