…In the National Housebuilding Council (NHBC) Pride in the Job Awards

Two Leicestershire site managers working for David Wilson Homes East Midlands have been awarded the prestigious Seal of Excellence award in the National Housebuilding Council (NHBC) Pride in the Job Awards.

Gary Tebbatt and Wayne Shooter have both been awarded the prestigious accolade for the impeccable standards they set at each of their developments; The Chestnuts in Syston, and Britannia Park in Burbage.

They had already beaten around 15,000 site managers to win one of the competition’s 446 Quality Awards and have now gone on to be amongst just 128 site managers in the country to receive the Seal of Excellence title.

Gary Tebbatt is no stranger to the Pride in the Job competition judges as this is the sixth consecutive year he has been commended. He said; “The key to a successful site is having a good team around you, and The Chestnuts has some great, hard working lads.

“This may be my sixth Seal of Excellence for The Chestnuts, but I’m still overjoyed to have won. The record speaks for itself – it’s a real achievement, not just for me, but for all the lads who have worked here, especially those who have been with me from the start.”

Wayne Shooter picked up his very first Seal of Excellence, after winning his first Quality Award earlier this year. He said, “I was blown away when I won, we’ve been striving for it all year and it’s really paid off.

“As a site manager you need to be organised and have attention to detail, but I couldn’t have done it without a good team on site, so this award is for them as much as me.”

Darren Langton, Construction Director at David Wilson Homes East Midlands, said; “We are hugely proud of Gary and Wayne for leading their teams to success in the annual NHBC awards. This confirms that we are building some of the highest quality homes not just in the East Midlands, but throughout the UK too.”

The Pride in the Job awards are the most coveted in the industry. Now in its 33rd year, it is the only national competition that focuses on the site manager’s role in producing high quality new homes. Judging takes place all year round and scores are given across 38 different areas of site management including technical knowledge, consistency in the build process, leadership and organisational skills.
