Bellway is celebrating its most successful year in the National House Building Council’s annual Pride in the Job Quality Awards.
A total of 47 Bellway site managers, more than 10 per cent of the total awarded nationally, were recognised for their dedication to building quality homes for their customers.
This year, 95 per cent of Bellway’s divisions included site managers who reached the rigorous standards set by the scheme. Bellway had the second highest number of awards overall nationally.
Just 449 site managers from an initial pool of over 7,500 nationally were successful in this year’s competition. The results were announced on Friday 19 June.
Commitment to quality recognised
James Griffin, Bellway Group Construction Director, said, “We have made huge progress this year, with a 15 per cent increase in the number of divisions winning Quality Awards, as our ‘right first time’ quality culture continues to go from strength to strength.
“As a company we have targeted the Pride in the Job Awards as part of our strategic focus on quality, with best practice and expertise shared across the business. This has helped us achieve five-star builder status with the Home Builders Federation for the 10th year running. This is as well as an excellent rating on Trustpilot for the first time this year.
“Congratulations to our successful site managers, who have all shown absolute dedication to meeting the rigorous standards required by the NHBC judges and have also inspired their site teams to share the Pride in the Job ethos, which is vital to achieve this award.
“They have been part of helping to create a culture in which our construction teams consistently build homes they would be proud to call their own. We hope their continued commitment to excellence will enable them to achieve even greater success in the next stage of the competition.”
Rigorous judging process
The awards, which are now in their 45th year, are among the most highly-prized in the housebuilding industry.
Judging for the awards is a rigorous process which encompasses every aspect of a site manager’s responsibilities, including consistency, attention to detail, leadership, interpretation of drawings and specifications, technical expertise and health and safety. Spot checks are also carried out on the day-to-day running of the site.
The successful site managers will now go on to be judged in the next round of the competition – the Seal of Excellence and Regional Awards – which will be announced in the autumn.
