The British Furniture Manufacturers (BFM) is to host a second seminar to update its members on design law and intellectual property in September.

It will cover topics such as copyright and design protection and laws, as well as copyright in fabric and two-dimensional designs plus trademarks you should own together with trademarks for future designs. It will also review well-known case law.

Jackie Bazeley, BFM MD said: “Our first design law seminar in June was a huge success and in reviewing the feedback received, it seemed that a second date was essential to ensure maximum member attendance. Especially as such events are key ways in which we can keep members in the loop with the ever changing laws within the sector.”

The British Furniture Manufacturers is a trade association that has represented the interests of the British furniture industry for more than 65 years. It has a broad based membership covering domestic, contract, office and kitchen manufacturers as well as suppliers to the industry and retailers who enjoy a number of benefits including access to expertise across a number of subjects including export, the EU timber regulations, health and safety, commodity pricing and the environment.
