Designer Contracts has added a new line to its range of SpringBond high performance eco-underlays. Manufactured in the UK, the new Eco-Step 8mm option builds on the portfolio of SpringBond products available to the new build sector from Designer Contracts. As with the 9mm and 7mm FR specifications – first introduced by DC in 2019 – the new line contains 85% recycled content (plastic bottles), is fully recyclable and also five times stronger than standard PU.
Each roll contains over 180 PET plastic bottles, eco-engineered in a Z-shape structure to create natural bounce back, 100% consistency and zero lumps and bumps. Naturally breathable, it is chemical and dust free, lightweight and also has excellent thermal and acoustic properties. Designer Contract’s commercial director Louise Walters said: “Over the years we have worked closely with Texfelt, the manufacturer of SpringBond, and the new Eco-Step 8mm option has been introduced as a result of feedback from our customers who we are now excited to offer an underlay that meets all their requirements.
“Our relationship with Texfelt goes back several years and we have received their Gold Award for our part in preventing millions of plastic bottles from polluting the world’s oceans. The collaboration also earned us the Partners in Sustainability category title in the PFM Partnership Awards 2021. Using SpringBond in an average three-bedroomed house saves over 1,000 bottles from landfill, and to date Designer Contracts has helped to divert some three million of them through its sales.” Produced in Yorkshire at a manufacturing plant which uses up to 70% solar and green energy, SpringBond has a verified Environmental Product Declaration.
