The working environment for freelancers, entrepreneurs and small businesses has changed face in recent years thanks to the likes of shared working hubs such as Your Space, which was opened by Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust at the Stephen Lawrence Centre in Deptford, London earlier this month.
Encouraging a community environment where workers can feel supported, included and inspired whilst having access to professional business facilities are core values inherent within Your Space, as envisaged by architectural practice Gensler. Not only will the newly opened work hub provide affordable workspace solutions with flexible desk space, lounge and studio to choose from, but also longer-term residencies for those seeking a more permanent home for their business, an integrated event space for networking or key launches, and an outdoor rooftop terrace with scenic views of the local park and community.
GROHE is honoured to have been able to work on the project, amidst 50 other contractors, to support a cause and trust that is very close to the hearts of the design community. Donatingthe brand’s expertise and high calibre of product for the space has helped enable thetransformation of the centre into a re-envisioned space, full of opportunity for future generations.
“It was our pleasure to support such a forward-thinking and compassionate project“, says Karl Lennon, International Key Account Director at GROHE. “A crucial part of the vision for thespace was to create an inspiring environment that would encourage young people to visit and realise their true potential – how could we turn down the opportunity to get involved?! Our involvement is where many great ideas and strong relationships stem from – conversations over a strong tea or coffee. We were delighted to donate three of our Red taps, which deliver kettle hot water on demand, and are placed in a few of the communal kitchen spaces across the site. GROHE Red offers the perfect convenience for users – endless hot drinks to accompany a long working day, with no need to boil the kettle! It was especially great to see them in use during my recent visit to the project“.
Your Space is one of a range of activities the Trust is undertaking this year to help raise awareness of and funds for their work with young people from disadvantaged backgrounds.This year marks the 25th anniversary of Stephen Lawrence’s murder and the 20th year sincethe foundation of the Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust. The Trust is commemorating him by celebrating the good that is being done in his name.
