A Bellway showhome in Halstead, created with an autistic child in mind, has been recognised at the 2025–26 United Kingdom Property Awards.
The Thespian showhome at Oakfields Park has won the Essex Residential Interior Show Home category, praised for its inclusive and family-focused design. The interior was developed by Stanza Style Interiors, who were tasked with designing a space suitable for a young couple and their autistic child.
Central to the layout is a sensory bedroom designed to provide comfort, calm and controlled stimulation. The room features soft textures, colour-changing LED lighting, and a portable sensory unit capable of producing an underwater-style effect. Designers worked with the parent of a child with special needs to ensure the design would be practical and supportive in everyday use.
Bellway Essex Sales Director Jenny Walker said the project was intended to balance functionality with elegance. “Our Oakfields Park showhome is a calm, safe and comforting sanctuary, but this has not been achieved at the expense of style,” she said.
“We wanted to create a place that would work for the whole family and cater for the needs of the parents as well as the child. Alex Egan from Stanza Style Interiors delivered this beautifully with soft neutral colours and tactile, luxurious materials. I’d like to congratulate and thank Alex and my Sales Manager, Emma Hawkins for their ideas and hard work in bringing this vision to life.”
She added that the sensory space had been crafted with care and research. “The sensory bedroom is so well thought through. The designers sensitively researched their approach and delivered a room that has comfort and interest but avoids overstimulation. We are proud of creating such a considered and inclusive showhome at Oakfields Park. Being recognised for it by the United Kingdom Property Awards is a great honour.”
The awards form part of the International Property Awards, which recognise excellence across residential and commercial property sectors. Winners were formally celebrated at a gala ceremony at the London Marriott Hotel, Grosvenor Square, on Friday 14 November.
The Thespian showhome is the final property available at Oakfields Park, priced from £429,995.
