Ward Homes is working with local schoolchildren in Swanscombe to mark National Tree Week, which takes place between 28 November and 6 December.
Sales adviser Amy Taylor visited pupils at Manor Community Primary School in Swanscombe to help them plant a tree on the school grounds to celebrate the start of the winter planting season.
“This was an excellent chance to meet local schoolchildren and get them involved in the tree planting,’’ said Ward Homes sales and marketing director Pam Reardon. “As a division we have planted or retained 26,000 trees in the last year and it is wonderful that this tree planting is helping to create a legacy to be enjoyed by staff and pupils at the school for many years to come.”
Pam added that building a close relationship with local schools is hugely important to Ward Homes, which has its Castle Hill development nearby, and that National Tree Week has provided the housebuilder with an excellent opportunity to do just that.
Headteacher Mr Lloyd added: “The children had great fun watching the tree being planted and hearing about National Tree Week. I have no doubt that they’ll enjoy tracking the progress of the tree as it grows over time.”
The Tree Council’s National Tree Week was founded in 1975 to make Britain more tree-conscious, encourage planting and raise awareness of the importance of proper care and maintenance of trees and has grown to become the UK’s largest celebration of trees.
