Hyperoptic has appointed Liberty Global veteran Duncan Macdonald as its new CTIO, to deliver on the company’s commitment to give industry-leading customer experience through a focus on emerging technology for both network and systems.
Duncan will be responsible for ensuring Hyperoptic has the technical capability to support its rapid customer growth, as more broadband users turn away from the big providers in favour of great customer service and fair, transparent pricing.
Duncan will also be responsible for evolving Hyperoptic’s digital capabilities to ensure the best customer experience within the broadband industry, and maximising the stability and efficiency of services as Hyperoptic continues to grow its network reach and customer base.
Duncan has 25 years of experience in the telecom industry, with the last 16 years as part of the Liberty Global group. Duncan’s most recent role was CIO at Liberty Global-owned Sunrise, in Switzerland, and at Swiss cable operator UPC Schweiz before that. He played a central role within Liberty Global between 2016 and 2018, managing consumer IT across 11 European Telcos, having overseen a large-scale transformation of the mobile IT stack for Virgin Media in the UK.
