Ibstock, the UK’s largest brickmaker, is celebrating more than a decade of dominating the shortlist of the Brick Development Association (BDA) Awards, as its bricks feature in 42 of this year’s entries.
At the 40th anniversary of the prestigious awards, Ibstock features in 11 of the 14 categories from large to small scale housing through to commercial developments, highlighting the striking aesthetic appeal and design flexibility offered through the brick maker’s extensive range.
Among the shortlisted entries is the Incurvo building in Oxfordshire, which is recognised in the Individual Housing Development Award. It uses Ibstock’s Swanage Handmade Light Red Multi to create a luminous earthy orange hue on the sweeping curves of the building’s walls. The Sighthill Regeneration, providing 141 new build houses and flats in North Glasgow using Ibstock’s Caledonian Buff, has also made the shortlist in the Best Large Housing Development Award. And, Nando’s in Hove, which uses Ibstock’s Linear Black Impression, Umbra Sawtooth and Natural Blu to create a shipwreck inspired restaurant, is shortlisted for Innovative use of Clay and Brick Products.
