The North East region of Lovell has promoted Phil Jones to Director of Land and Partnerships after three successful years with the business.
Phil, who has more than 26 years’ experience of housing and development in the public and private sector in the North East of England, joined the region in October 2022.
In his original role as Head of Land and Partnerships, Phil has led on land acquisition and activity and been at the forefront of the creation of several key partnerships, including with the developer Placefirst and homelessness charity Oasis Community Housing.
He said: “I feel privileged to be working for a company as progressive and proactive as Lovell and am delighted by the decision of the senior management team to make me a director. I joined the business whilst the North East region was in its infancy and feel a great sense of pride and belonging with this excellent team.
“The principal function of my role is to manage the land acquisition strategy for the region which encompasses acquiring sites for residential development and guiding projects through complex planning processes. Partnerships and collaborations have been prominent in my career and this is a major part of my role at Lovell where I get to explore, develop and implement strategic partnerships and joint ventures.”
Phil, who grew up in Durham and lives in Newcastle, has worked in local authorities across the region in strategic planning roles. The Newcastle University graduate has also had senior positions at a range of development and housing bodies including national planning consultancy Lichfields UK, the Government’s housing and regeneration agency Homes England, housing association Thirteen Group, and the former regional development agency One North East.

“Phil has led the way on our business plan and land acquisition strategy for the region, maintaining, enhancing and developing existing and new relationships with land agents, developers, registered providers and local authorities.
“Following his promotion to director, Phil will continue to lead in proactively sourcing, managing and progressing land acquisitions and exploring innovative new ways to generate partnership opportunities as we seek to achieve our ambitious growth plans in the years ahead.”
