UK Marmox refines its Showerlay tileable shower formers, streamlining sizes and adding an easy-access drain for simpler, flexible wetroom installations
As the UK’s best-known manufacturer of products and systems to simplify the installation process for bathroom and wetroom contractors, Kent based Marmox has refined its already highly popular Showerlay range of tileable shower formers: finetuning the choice of sizes and introducing a new easy-access drain.
Originally launched in 2017 and updated two years ago with the addition of a linear drain option, Showerlay’s pedigree is actually based on the company’s best-selling tilebacker product, Multiboard, which features a modified concrete coating to varying thicknesses of XPS insulation. Fully waterproof and able to sustain substantial loadings, Multiboard provides the ideal core for the Showerlay concept, which enables stylish walk-in showers to be seamlessly fitted into any wetroom, en-suite or other situation.
The three primary choices of centre or offset drain positions and the contemporary appearance of linear drains are all retained in the new offering, but with a rationalised set of sizes. The centre drain choices are 900, 1000, 1200 and 1500mm square, while the offset variants also include 1000 and 1200mm square models, along with 900m by 1200, 1500 and 1800mm rectangular units. The quartet of linear drain variants measure 1000 x 1000mm, 900 x 1200mm, 1000 x 1400mm and 1000 x 1800mm. Further flexibility is offered by the installer being able to trim all of the formers by up to 100mm along any side, while a new integrated fleece ensures continuity of waterproofing with the rest of the floor build-up or walls using Marmox Self-adhesive Tape.
Subtle falls direct water into the outlets, beneath which the new drain offers the benefits of a straightforward fitting process and ready accessibility for future cleaning. Together, the updated Showerlay range and fully compatible ancillary products offer small builders and bathroom professionals, together with end customers, the opportunity to create attractive and durable shower areas in private residential, hotel, care home and other settings.
