An architect’s dream to build seven sustainable luxury homes on a 200-year-old farm in Worcestershire will become a reality in 2022, marketed by estate agency Nicol & Co.
The conversion project is the brainchild of Chris Partington, the well-known Managing Director of Zebra Architects, although this is his independent venture with a private business partner. The Moseley Barns and Moseley Farm scheme involves the redevelopment of a rural Georgian estate at Hallow, to the north-west of Worcester. This will result in a fully refurbished, six-bedroomed farmhouse, parts of which date back to around 1820, and six barn conversions of two, three and four bedrooms, worth a total sale price of more than £5 million.
Mr Partington said: “Moseley Farm Estate in Hallow sits within a tranquil backdrop of 16 acres, with far reaching views across the Worcestershire countryside towards Bredon Hill, The Malverns and Abberley Ridge.
“It’s situated only ten minutes away from Worcester city, and so brings the benefit of rural living while being close to city centre amenities and national transport links.
“Each plot comes with a cottage garden meticulously designed by expert landscape architects, with orchard planting and historic hedgerows replacing old and unsightly glasshouses and polytunnels, which will help increase bio-diversity.
“The farmhouse comes with the addition of a formal lawn, mature landscaping, walled garden and six acres, while two of the large barn conversions will have three acres each.”
Mr Partington identified the run-down estate in autumn 2020 and saw an opportunity to redevelop the site into a luxury development whilst enhancing the site, surroundings and ecology.
He said: “Until now, I’ve always acted as a consultant for various developers, but I realised this was my opportunity for a fresh challenge of joining the client side and using my knowledge of the industry to reinvigorate this derelict site.
“I had this dream of a residential development that focused the importance of access to quality external amenity space, in addition to creating sustainable homes with 21st century technology.
“I think it is the perfect time as the residential marketplace is moving away from the big cities and people are looking for luxury in rural areas as they start to redefine their work-life balance.
“It was also important to me that the scheme delivered an enhancement to bio-diversity rather than a destruction of habitats.”
The Moseley Barns and Moseley Farm re-development has been designed by Zebra Architects Limited and will be constructed by RDS Build, which plans to use local contractors and suppliers.
The project will create five or six new jobs, including two new apprentices, and it will provide work for dozens of contractors over the next year and a half.

Moseley Farm and the first three barn conversions, called The Granary, The Stables and The Dairy, are all due for completion in 2022 with each plot will benefitting from a ten-year warranty.
