Keepmoat Homes have begun initial preparatory works for their Lyndon Park development in Great Harwood, with the housebuilder aiming to deliver 217 homes over the next five years.

The scheme on Harwood Lane, which is in a partnership with Hyndburn Borough Council, is set to consist of a mixture of properties from four-bedroom detached homes to two-bed bungalows, while 20% of the site is set to be allocated for affordable housing.

Hyndburn’s planning committee unanimously granted approval in June 2017 for the scheme, which is located on the former Lyndon Playing Fields.

Back in 2015, outline consent was secured, despite there being some local opposition to the plans, which came with an 1,000 plus signature petition.

Keepmoat have stated that the early interest in the £38m scheme has been high, and the first batch of properties are set to be completed by June 2018. All of the properties qualify for the Government’s Help to Buy scheme.

Cllr Miles Parkinson, who is the leader of Hyndburn Borough Council, said: “This is a huge investment for Great Harwood and we’re delighted that work is finally underway. The new development will bring much needed new housing to the area, which has seen little development over recent years.”

Adding to this statement, Keepmoat’s regional managing director – Gareth Roberts – added:“We’re looking forward to continuing our partnership with Hyndburn Borough Council on this exciting project, which is set to create a vibrant new community within Great Harwood for new and existing residents.

“The amount of interest the development has received has been incredible and is very encouraging at this early stage.”
