From modest Dutch beginnings, Reginox has spent 50 years building an international reputation for innovative sinks, worktops and cutting edge design.

From a modest manufacturing operation in the Netherlands, over its five decades, Reginox has built a sinks and worktops empire based on innovative product manufacturing and strong, cutting-edge design. Now, with sales offices in the Holland and Singapore, sitting alongside its thriving UK arm, the business celebrates its 50th anniversary with a new generation of people and an increasingly diverse product portfolio to it to help shape what comes next.

A name synonymous with good design, quality and delivery for UK housebuilders and interior designers, Reginox stands as a heritage brand, renowned for its attention to detail and outstanding customer service, but what’s the story behind this premium brand?

The business began in Rijssen, in the east of Holland, in 1976 and initially focused on the manufacture of high-quality, stainless-steel sinks. Investment in manufacturing technology and deep-drawing machinery fast became an important part of the company’s development, helping Reginox establish a reputation for innovation within an increasingly competitive European market. That manufacturing heritage remains central to the brand today.

While the kitchen’s role has changed enormously over the past five decades, moving from a predominantly functional room to one of the most important social and design spaces in the home, the fundamentals behind a good sink or tap have arguably changed far less. Products still need to be durable, practical, well- designed and capable of standing up to everyday life.

For Reginox, that combination of form and function has become something of a calling card.

Innovation with a purpose

Innovation is an easy word for manufacturers to use. The harder task is ensuring it genuinely improves the product rather than simply adding complexity.

Reginox’s history includes many examples of innovation driven by design and manufacturing, rather than novelty for novelty’s sake. Its Texas sink range, launched in 2009, went on to receive a Red Dot Award and introduced what Reginox describes as the world’s first fully pressed 10mm-radius sink. A further Red Dot accolade followed in 2016. It is that quest for constant product improvement that continues to influence and drive the business today.

The company puts this up front by celebrating its positioning, which focuses on Dutch design and engineering, product innovation, high-quality materials and practical solutions for everyday living. Crucially, however, it is also proud to openly operate in a part of the market where value matters as much as quality and aesthetics.

For Reginox’s customers, there is considerable value in products which offer a premium feel without automatically attracting premium-category pricing.

Given that, rather than competing solely at the very top end, the company’s proposition is centred on providing European manufacturing quality and contemporary design at an accessible, mid-premium price point. That balance has become increasingly important for housebuilders who have to make specification decisions that reflect aesthetics and design, but that also have to work commercially across hundreds of properties. Reliability, consistency, availability and cost all matter alongside the finished appearance.

A strong UK presence

Reginox proudly established its UK subsidiary in 1999. Based in Cheshire, the UK operation has a high degree of autonomy across areas including sales, marketing and commercial decision-making, while continuing to benefit from the manufacturing knowledge and scale of the parent company.

That combination of international manufacturing capability and local market understanding has become an important part of the Reginox proposition and one that the company leans into in its pursuit of accelerated commercial growth.

The UK team supports customers spanning housebuilding, development, contracting, kitchen retail, manufacturing and merchant channels. It also holds stock across the UK product range, allowing the business to respond quickly to customer requirements, with all bases covered.

For developers and contractors, that operational side of the relationship can be every bit as important as the product itself. A sink or tap may represent a relatively small element within an entire house, but when products are being specified and installed at scale, reliability of supply and consistency of quality quickly become much bigger considerations.

More than stainless steel

Stainless steel remains at the heart of Reginox. However, the company today looks very different from the sink manufacturer that began five decades ago.

Its UK offering has expanded to include ceramic and composite granite sinks, kitchen taps, accessories and stainless-steel worktops, creating a portfolio that works across a full range of kitchen styles and price points.

The current UK catalogue encompasses approximately 150 sinks and 56 taps, alongside other accessories and worktop solutions. That breadth creates greater flexibility for specification for the housebuilders and specifiers Reginox serves.

Contemporary granite and ceramic options sit alongside traditional stainless steel, enabling developers and kitchen designers to respond to changing trends while maintaining the consistency that comes from nurturing a single supplier relationship. The selection is also curated to reflect the increasing role of choice within new homes.

Consumers have become more design-aware, even within mainstream housing. Colours, finishes and material choices that may once have been associated predominantly with bespoke or premium kitchens are now sought after from a wider market. The challenge for manufacturers is not to simply create attractive products – it’s making those choices commercially viable.

Building the next generation

Products are only part of the Reginox story in its anniversary year.

The UK business has introduced fresh talent, with a number of newer appointments joining established members of the team. This extension of the team reflects the company’s commitment to building on its successes and always being on the front foot.

Commercial Director, Dave Mayer commented, “The experience within the established team provides continuity and deep knowledge of the market, while newer appointments bring different perspectives and the opportunity to build long-term relationships with the next generation of customers.

“Each member of the team has qualities that enrich our offering overall while sharing a single attribute – the clear capability to develop alongside the business in the years to come. We have to look ahead to grow, and the team has been hand-picked accordingly.”

Designing for real life

One theme running through Reginox’s current positioning is practicality. The kitchen industry has no shortage of premium products, elaborate technology and heavily engineered features. However, the majority of consumers base their decision making on one simple question: Does this product make my everyday life better? Reginox has adopted this philosophy and run with it arguing that consumers rarely buy specifications for their own sake.

Dave addresses this thinking, “Consumers buy the benefit attached to a product. They’re interested in if it saves time or reduces worktop clutter. Maybe it makes food preparation easier or simply creates a kitchen that works better but it does something useful.

“A successful kitchen product must balance design, durability, functionality and value. Remove one of those elements and the proposition becomes much harder to justify, particularly within the volume housing market. It’s a lot of boxes to tick but we can’t ignore any one of them.”

For Reginox, the opportunity is therefore not to chase complexity but to make good design and proven innovation accessible to a wider audience.

The next chapter

After 50 years, Reginox has plenty of heritage to draw on. With a story that spans Dutch manufacturing, award-winning product development and more than 25 years in the UK, cultivating long-standing relationships across the kitchen and housebuilding sectors, you have to ask, what’s next?

The company has identified specification, contracting and housebuilding as key areas for continued growth, alongside its established presence within the KBB market. A broader product portfolio and an expanded, ambitious sales team, along with a continued focus on accessible design, gives Reginox a strong platform from which to exceed those growth plans.

The kitchen of today may look very different from the one Reginox began manufacturing for in 1976, but many of the principles of kitchen product manufacturing remain the same. As Dave says, “Make them well, make them useful, make them attractive and make them work commercially. That’s the Reginox mantra.”

For Reginox, 50 years of experience is less about looking back at what has already been achieved and more about providing the foundations, and planning the successes, for its next chapter.
