Exploring the world of kitchen innovations, countertops, sinks and why integrated sinks are becoming so fashionable.

When it comes to kitchens, there is an extensive list of products and materials that ensure that a kitchen looks well and is protected. Whether it is the need for an oven, kitchen drawers or a fridge without these items this housing space would not earn the title “the kitchen” and would just be another room within the housing space. Sinks and surfaces fall under this bracket of items that are essential within a kitchen space. Sinks and surfaces are forever developing and changing in order to make kitchens look chic and meet necessary consumer demands. As many know, sinks are used to wash certain foods, utensils and provide important access for drinking water. Kitchen surfaces not only added to the kitchen aesthetic, but they are long lasting and easier to clean. Kitchens and countertops subsequently go hand in hand when it comes to impacting the image of the kitchen. Consequently, this feature wishes to establish the new developments occurring in the sinks and surfaces kitchen sector and how sinks and surfaces are beginning to go hand-in-hand to create integrated sinks and how they produce a seamless kitchen look.

The popularity of undermount sinks

It is evident that undermount kitchen sinks are leading the way in the kitchen sector. These sinks mount to the bottom of the countertop and are held in place by heavy-duty clips and caulk or a special adhesive. These sinks do have rims but the rim is not visible because it rests up against the bottom of the counter. The edge of the countertop along the sink cut out is entirely exposed. These types of sinks are considered to be better because they add a creative and clean finished feel to any given kitchen. They provide more room for the counter space which gives a sense of continuity to the countertop, whilst also allowing large utensils to be cleaned too. Also, they are much easier to clean, making them a great hygienic investment. This type of sink will continue to grow in popularity because it hits a myriad of consumer demands.

Consumers as of now desire hygienic, high end yet minimalistic products and this sink offers that. The way the sinks seemingly fit perfectly into the countertop provides an effortless feel, creating the appearance of an easy and undemanding kitchen space. Hygiene particularly has become a growing trend because of the Covid-19 pandemic meaning that more space to focus on greater hygienic practices is desired by homeowners. Minimalism also adds to this element of serenity and cleanliness which is attractive to many consumers. Undermount installation itself is also a very easy process which means that major renovations are not needed in order to get the desired kitchen feel.

The rise of dramatic countertops

Colour is making its way into the kitchen. Usually, the colour white is what tends to come to mind when an individual thinks of a kitchen as it resembles cleanliness. However, dark counters have grown in popularity. Black countertops when contrasting with a bright kitchen can almost create a striking yet harmonious feel to the room. Many homeowners view their living spaces as a statement piece for it to be eye-catching. This is important when you consider how aesthetics have become majorly important in consumers’ lives as having the most “instagrammable” looking environment is aspirational for many. Dark countertops and kitchens create this social media approval because frankly dark countertops are niche yet highly alluring as they create stunning backdrops that create interesting images. Subsequently, countertops are necessary in creating the perception that a home has been made of the highest quality.
