Elan Homes helped Staffordshire buyers gain important insights and advice with their special Help to Buy event at St Thomas Priory.
Joined at the development in Baswich by independent financial advisors and Help to Buy agents, Elan’s sales executives assessed visitors’ finances, helping them identify homes that would meet their unique requirements.
Current availability includes three and four-bedroom homes, all of which fall within the threshold for Help to Buy.
Marie Morris, sales director for Elan Homes in the North, explained: “Almost 4,000 people across Staffordshire have used Help to Buy since it was introduced in 2013. The show home at St Thomas Priory has only been open a few weeks, but many of the people who’ve inquired about the homes here are uncertain if they’re eligible or what the scheme could mean for them.
“Hosting Help to Buy events alongside experts can help guide people through the scheme. The equity loan scheme is a great way for first-time buyers to get on the housing ladder and can also be used by movers, providing they have sold their existing property subject to contract.”
Prices at St Thomas Priory start from £294,995 for a three-bedroom end mews Colton style home offering 1,084 sq ft of living space.
To the ground floor of the Colton there’s a combined lounge and dining room, well-equipped kitchen, utility and cloakroom. Upstairs, the master bedroom has an en-suite, leaving the family bathroom to serve the remaining two bedrooms.
Help to Buy offers people the chance to take out an equity loan for up to 20% of the purchase price so that they can reserve a brand-new home with a deposit of as little as 5%, plus a 75% mortgage from their chosen lender. Crucially, the equity loan is interest-free for five years.
Some of the homes are Stamp Duty exempt for first-time buyers, but those who expect to pay the tax could be supported as Elan is offering to cover the cost.
