Cornish construction company, Gilbert & Goode, has been crowned the region’s construction business of the year in the Insider South West Property Awards.
Widely regarded as the West Country’s premier industry accolades, the company picked up the award for their ongoing commitment to apprenticeships and training at all levels within the organisation.
Judges also recognised its ‘lean’ approach to construction, aimed at maximising productivity and minimising waste.
Gilbert & Goode, which employs 85 people, is one of the largest Cornish construction businesses in the region, boasting a portfolio which includes major building and refurbishment projects and building new homes.
David Clensy, Chair of the Judging Panel, said: “Insider’s South West Property Awards are one of the highlights of the calendar for the property and construction sector in the region.
“The judges were particularly impressed with Gilbert & Goode’s focus on a lean approach to construction and on innovation and skills.
“Working with the Construction Industry Training Board to develop lean construction techniques, the company has trained more than 100 people in Lean Principals, including suppliers, consultants, subcontractors and colleagues.”
The awards were presented at a glittering black-tie ceremony in Bristol, attended by more than 300 guests.
